My Development Process

  1. Contact me for a short consultation where you show me what you are currently using for quotes and what you would like to create inside HubSpot.
  2. If it makes sense to proceed, I will then provide a proposal of how I plan to solve your problem.
  3. Next, I would create a sandbox environment in your account where I can create the customized quote templates and not interfere with your current flow.
  4. The next step would be to create a functional prototype. The goal is to get the data on the quote as you require. The quote will not look good yet but we will improve that in the next step.
  5. Now that the quote template has the correct data on the page, the next step is to make visual refinements. The design phase could be quick or require more time to achieve your brand and business’s desired look and feel.
  6. Once everything is approved, I will apply the templates to your primary account and provide training on making updates yourself.
  7. I typically also provide one month of support after the launch to fix any bugs or add new features if they come up. Often, you can’t think of every scenario and use case so this step helps with that.

When you create a quote there is text box titled "notes to the buyer". You can use snippets to quickly insert commonly used messages or terms and conditions. Another approach, is to bake this boilerplate text into the template itself. That way you don't need to remember to add it manually.

How do I create a custom quote in HubSpot?

HubSpot provides a starter quotes theme you can install into your HubSpot account using their CLI tool. Once the theme is installed, you can clone a default template and customize to fit your brand and requirements. Once your template is created, you will then need to select the new quote template when creating a new quote using the HubSpot quotes tool. Read Knowledgebase Article

How do I customize my HubSpot quote template?

You can do some minor customization to your HubSpot quotes using the design manager. For more advanced customization, you would need to have Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise in order to use a fully custom quote template. Can I customize quote templates with free or Sales Hub Starter tools?

Yes, you can use HubSpot's free or Sales Hub Starter tools to edit the theme settings on the default quote templates that are already available in your account. However, it is important to note that these tools do not allow you to create completely customized quote templates from scratch.

What are the available subscriptions for customizing quote templates?

There are several available subscriptions for customizing quote templates. These subscriptions include All products and plans, Sales Hub Professional, and Sales Hub Enterprise. Users with Super admin permissions in Sales Hub Professional and Enterprise accounts have the ability to create customized quote templates. These templates can be modified using editable modules to match the specific design and content requirements of the business. On the other hand, subscribers with HubSpot's free or Sales Hub Starter tools can edit the theme settings applied to default quote templates in their account, but they do not have the option to create custom quote templates.

What actions can I perform on default and customized quote templates?

Default and customized quote templates offer various actions for management. The default quote templates section provides options to handle the three templates that come with your account. By hovering over the default template, you can access the Actions dropdown menu. From there, you can perform the following actions:

  1. Preview: Obtain a visual representation of how a quote created from the template would appear.
  2. Edit theme: Modify the template's theme. It's important to note that changes made to the theme will affect all three default templates.
  3. Use template: Generate a new quote using the selected template.
  4. Hide in quotes: Prevent the template from appearing as an option when creating a new quote. This option allows you to temporarily remove the template and later re-enable it by choosing "Show in templates" from the dropdown menu.

In the case of customized quote templates, found in the Your customized quote templates section, you have additional management options. Upon hovering over a customized quote template, you will find the Actions dropdown menu. Here are the available actions for customized quote templates:

  1. Edit: Make edits to the specific quote template. The template editor allows modifications to the template's content and appearance, including the ability to modify the theme within the Settings tab.
  2. Clone: Create a copy of the customized quote template. This action preserves the template's structure and contents, providing a basis for similar quotes.
  3. Use template: Generate a new quote using the customized template.
  4. Hide in quotes: Temporarily remove the template from the options when creating a new quote. However, you can easily revert this change by selecting "Show in templates" from the dropdown menu.
  5. Delete: Permanently remove the customized quote template from your account. Exercise caution, as this action cannot be undone.

By utilizing these actions, you can efficiently manage both default and customized quote templates to suit your specific needs.

How can I manage existing default and customized quote templates?

To manage your existing default and customized quote templates, follow these steps:

  1. Start by logging into your HubSpot account and locating the settings icon in the main navigation bar.
  2. In the left sidebar menu, navigate to the "Objects" section and select "Quotes".
  3. Once on the Quotes page, click on the "Quote templates" tab.
  4. Here, you will find two sections: "Default quote templates" and "Your customized quote templates".
  5. In the "Default quote templates" section, you can manage the three templates that come preloaded with your HubSpot account. To explore the options available, hover over a default template, then click on the "Actions" dropdown menu. From there, you can preview the template, edit the theme, use the template to create a new quote, or hide it from appearing as an option.
  6. In the "Your customized quote templates" section, you can manage any previously created customized templates. Similar to the default templates, hover over a customized template, then click on the "Actions" dropdown menu. This will provide you with several options, including editing the template, cloning it to create a copy, using it to create a new quote, hiding it from appearing as an option, or deleting the template.
